About Window 10 20H2 & 21H1 Version EOS
In Windows 10, version 20H2 is the tenth major update to Windows 10. The upgrade went live on October 20, 2020.
Among the notable changes in the October 2020 Update are the Start Menu, Microsoft Edge enhancements, new customizable experience, enhancements to the notification experience and so on.
However, this stable version now welcomed its EOS (end of service). Microsoft has confirmed that the Home and Pro editions of Windows 10, version 20H2, would no longer be supported after May 10, 2022.
After that date, devices running these versions will no longer get monthly security and quality upgrades with protection against the most recent security risks.
What’s more, in the file of supporting data, version 21H2 will also cease service on Dec 13, 2022, and version 21H2, on Jun 13, 2023.
So, for the sake of security, we’d say maybe it’s time to upgrade your Windows 10 to Windows 11.
Windows 10 20H2 Upgrade To Windows 11 (Easy Way)
After some updates, Windows 11 now has become better than last year. However, as every user knows, Windows 11 has higher system requirements than Windows 10.
Thus, if you’re preparing to upgrade Windows 10 20H2 or 21H1 to Windows 11, firstly, you need to check your devices, especially the system’s disk.
You can open Disk Management in Windows 10 to see the disk and partitions on your PC.
Here, we list the system requirements of Windows 11 for you to do a cross-reference.
Of course, you can check your PC with an official tool called “PC Health Check” from Microsoft website.
As the picture shows, the UEFI boot option, which promises to offer extra security to your computer and requires the GPT boot disk, is the most significant of all Windows 11 requirements.
If your existing Windows 10 20H2 is installed on an MBR hard drive, you must convert it to a GPT hard drive and replace the Legacy BIOS to UEFI before upgrading to Windows 11.
Luckily, this work is quite easy for AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional. It’s a Windows disk and partition manager for all Windows OS, supporting Windows 11/10/8/8.1/7/XP.
The “Convert to GPT/MBR” function can convert the system disk and data disk between MBR and GPT without asking users to clear data.
The operation is simple for all users.
Step 1. Install and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant. Right-click the MBR boot hard drive and select “Convert to GPT Disk”.
Step 2. Click “OK” to confirm your operation.
Step 3. Click “Apply” to commit the conversion.
Only 3 steps, your system disk will be ready for Windows 11. After the conversion, you’ll need to enter BIOS to switch your boot mode to UEFI.
Step 1. Restart your computer and continuously press a specific key to enter the EFI Setup menu. If you don’t know which key to press, just press Esc to get a full menu, and then you can select BIOS Setup.
Step 2. Access to Boot tab and hit on UEFI/ BIOS Boot Mode, and please disable Legacy and enable UEFI.
Now, you can upgrade to Windows 11.
Step 1. Go to Start Menu, click on “Settings”.
Step 2. Click “Updates & Security” on the Settings screen.
Step 3. In the Windows Update, click “Check for updates”. If the free Windows 11 upgrade is available, you’ll see an option to download and install.
Step 4. Click “Download and install”. Follow on-screen prompts and configure Windows 11 settings.
If the Windows 11 update isn’t accessible on your machine, go to the Microsoft official website and download the Windows 11 Installation Assistant.
After you run this program, it will guide you to install Windows 11.
When the installation is complete, you will be requested to restart your computer immediately or wait for the 30-minute timer to expire if you need more time to save crucial data.
After a reboot, you may sign back into Windows. When the final setup is finished, you will be able to access your new Windows 11 PC.
Ending
Although Windows 10 now is gradually starting to stop the service, we can upgrade to Windows 11 from now.
AOMEI Partition Assistant is a versatile tool that can protect your data and help you manage your Windows PC efficiently.
