Vaping is a safer and healthier alternative to smoking. You can also keep your nicotine addiction and cravings in check. Besides that, you can also enjoy vape juices of different flavors.
If you using refillable vape kits or box mods, you may experience a burnt taste while vaping. This is a frustrating experience, and it can ruin your vaping experience. However, it is an indicator that there is something wrong with your vaping device.
Fixing the issue is simple if you know your way around dismantling your vape pen and putting it back together. Below are common causes of vapes with a burning taste and how to fix a burnt coil.
Common Causes of Burnt Taste While Vaping
One of the main reasons you may get a burnt taste when vaping could be insufficient vape juice in the tank. This means that the wick is not getting socked with vape juice as required. The dry parts of the wick often start charring. The fix to this issue is to refill the tank and wait for the wick to get saturated before you vape.
Some vape pens come with power control features to help you adjust the temperature of the atomizer. However, using high temperature settings can cause a burnt taste. High temperatures cause the vape juice to vaporize faster. As a result, the wick dries faster than it can soak up enough e-juice.
A burnt taste could also be because of a worn-out or dirty coil. Residue may build up on the coil if you use thick-flavored vape juices. Ensure that you inspect your coil regularly and clean off any residue present. Also, replace the coil if worn out and use the e-juices recommended by the manufacturer.
Chain vaping, or taking multiple successive puffs without breaks, can cause a vape burnt taste. Taking consecutive vapes doesn’t allow the atomizer cool down. Besides that, it also doesn’t allow adequate time for the wick to get saturated with vape juice. The solution is to take breaks between puffs to let the wick absorb enough e-juice.
How To Fix A Burnt Coil
The first thing you must do is assess the damage to the coil. If the damage is too much or it has excess residue buildup, the best option is to a replacement from the manufacturer. While you’re at it, clean the tank with warm water to remove any debris stuck inside.
Ensure that the new coil is compatible with your pen or box mod. After replacing the burnt coil, ensure that you prime the new coil to prevent any dry hits or burning. You can wet the exposed cotton-wicking material of the coil with a few drops of the e-juice to saturate it.
Let it rest for a while until the coil is well-saturated. This process is known as priming. Once the coil is well primed, reassemble the device and fill the tank. Ensure that every part is screwed together well before taking your first puff.
We recommend trying it at a low temperature setting before gradually upping the power.
